Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade has reported its busiest day of the year so far.
The crews first call came in at 1:20pm yesterday for a small grass fire burning close to a home, with their Attack Unit getting it under control quickly.
At the same time, the Water Tanker was responded to another job at Whitsunday Paradise, where a fire had jumped the highway and was threatening structures.

The Attack Unit, ATV and Support Vehicle also responded, alongside Bowen’s three Urban appliances, Heronvale, and now Airlie Beach Urbans worked to keep it under control overnight.
While crews were still working at that incident, another fire ignited at Longford Creek and was the largest of the day.
Multiple resources responded from Cannonvale, Proserpine, and even Mackay as the fire threatened several structures, while a helicopter was called in to water bomb.

It’s believed these have been deliberately lit and firefighters are urging the community to report anything suspicious by calling 000 immediately.
