Should the Bluewater Lagoon be "user pays"?
Councillor Martin Bella told me around 200,000 visitors and locals go to our beautiful Bluewater Lagoon each year and that it costs around $2 million a year to maintain.
So it costs Mackay's ratepayers $10 for each person who goes to the lagoon
I spoke to Councillor Bella on 4MK this morning - press the audio button to hear his 2 minute thoughts.
He believes that a $2.00 per person charge to go to the lagoon is not a bad thing, with the money raised going to maintenance - and easing the rates burden.
What do you think?
