The Australian Senate has just saved the Qld Seafood Industry $22.4 million dollars by voting down a motion

Queensland Seafood Industry Association CEO Eric Perez has stated that a decison by the Australian Senate to vote down a Disallowance Motion put by Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson has saved the Queensland seafood industry a staggering $22.4 million!

In short, the Scallop Hammerhead Shark that is in decline in other parts of the world is not in that situation here because of the good management of the seafood industry, but as Jane Lovell says "so problems overseas are becoming our problems - and I don't think that's fair. It's not OK for people to extrapolate an international problem into our waters - and shut our fishers down!"
