Yothu Yindi have travelled the world - now first time in Airlie Beach
In the mid-80s, a young white band named the Swamp Jockies headed to the N.T. and when seting up for a show in Gove were approached by a young indigenous fella who said he had a couple of songs - and a band with no name at that time. His name was Mandawuy Yunupingu.
Stewart Kellaway was the bass player in the Swamp Jockies and within acouple of years, the combination of that band and the indiginous performers had named themselves Yothu Yindi.
