A 51-year-old man has been charged with dink driving in Mackay City, after he allegedly blew almost five times the legal blood alcohol limit.
It’s alleged that the man drove to a business on Victoria Street 10.00am last Friday and collided with multiple parked cars on the way.
Officers say the driver attempted to flee on foot but bystanders stopped him, before police arrived.
They conducted a roadside breath test and as a result the driver was detained and taken to the Mackay police station for further testing.
After further testing occurred it’s alleged the driver’s breath alcohol concentration was .249 percent, almost five times the legal limit.
He has been arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of liquor and will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on September 5 to have the matter heard.
