A Bowen man has been killed in a crash south of Proserpine.
Police say a truck and car collided on the Bruce Highway, north of Bloomsbury around 6.05pm last night.
The driver and sole occupant of a blue SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He has now been identified as a 20-year-old from Bowen.
The driver of the truck, a 31-year-old man, was treated at the scene for shock.
The Bruce Highway remained closed between Bloomsbury and O’Connell River until around 3am on Thursday, with the road reportedly suffering some damage following the collision.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Anyone travelling on the Bruce Highway between Bloomsbury and Mackay around that time, with relevant dashcam footage, is urged to contact police.
