Beaconsfield State School Gets A New Principal For One Day

Beaconsfield State School will get a new Principal for just one day on Tuesday October 16.

Local Member of Parliament and Assistant Minister for State Development, Julieanne Gilbert will act as their Community Principal.

Community Principal is an annual program that encourages state schools to invite a local community, business or sports leader to job-shadow the principal for a day, or even a few hours.

Julieanne is a third generation, lifetime Mackay local; she and her husband Frank currently live in East Mackay.

She is the mother of one daughter and two stepsons, as well as a grandmother of three.

Such is her passion for education, Julieanne was a local primary school teacher and then worked as an advocate for teachers and children in North Queensland.

She is particularly passionate about ensuring that all children, whatever their circumstances, are afforded the opportunity to realise their potential.
