Resident Interrupts Burglary At Home

Two burglars have been disturbed by a resident in the backyard of a home on Norris Road in North Mackay on Saturday morning.

The burglars got into the home through a closed but unlocked downstairs door while multiple residents were sleeping at around 3:00AM.

Once inside, the burglars walked upstairs and searched the kitchen and stole a brown handbag containing bankcards and purse, footwear and a knife with a wolf image on the handle.

As the two burglars exited the home and were moving through the backyard, they were confronted and verbally challenged by a resident who had been woken.

As a result, they immediately jumped the back fence and ran from the area.  The resident said they were wearing black hoodies with black long pants.

A prompt search of the area by police with the assistance of the dog squad did not locate the burglars and anyone with information in relation to this matter is encouraged to contact police as soon as possible.

Police are urging residents to please lock their doors.
