$15,000 Easter Bowls Challenge

Current Australian and Queensland representative lawn bowlers will be in Mackay to contest the annual Easter Open Challenge at Souths Suburban Bowls Club this weekend.
Total prize money is $15,000 with the overall winners collecting $3,600. Eight games of 2 Bowl Triples will be played with the winners determined by games won and
Current number one ranked female bowler in Australia, Chloe Stewart will team with current Queensland representative teammate, Dee-Anne Robertson and local Charmayne Sleeman to make a very strong side. Also competing will be the reigning Australian Triples Champions.
Souths Suburban’s own Peter Balderson and Alan Howard teamed with Mitchell Mears from Brisbane to win the 2018 Australian Title last December.
Other former Queensland representative players include Col Kelly, Ester Regan and Sue Brady. Wayne Handley from Proserpine, who won the Recent Blue Opal Singles
qualifier at Souths Suburban, is bringing a strong team along. Another very strong team from Souths Suburban comprises Janine Rodgers, Di Faulkner and Dal MacKelvie.
A host of Mackay District representative players, both male and female, will also be competing along with top lawn bowlers from Cairns to Brisbane. Former multiple winner, Peter Blackburn is teamed with his son Steve and Ben Cribbin from Cairns.
Other family teams include Grahame Kinnear and his sons from Proserpine and Don Currie from Bribie Island playing with his sons, David and Bruce.
Play starts at 9.00am Saturday and 8.30am Sunday with the winners announced at around 5pm Sunday when prizes will be presented.
