Council Trying To Prevent Wastewater Overflows
Council has invested more than $100,000 into its wastewater system to reduce the risk of future overflows.
It follows two separate incidents last year.
There was a dry weather bypass incident at the Sarina Water Recycling Facility and an overflow at the Whitehaven Sewerage Pump Station.
Water and Waste chief operating officer, Dr Nicole Davis, said council was committed to having the best wastewater system in place.
“We have updated our monitoring systems and processes and staff have undergone additional training to reduce the likelihood of overflows in the future.”
