Tell Cops About Suspicious Activity Not Just Social Media
Police need our help to respond to suspicious activity, particularly late at night.
They say they have learned of a recent incident where a resident was woken by several people acting suspiciously on a street near Shakespeare Street, East Mackay.
They say, in these situations, if residents raise the alarm on social media only, that information will not be viewed or responded to by police.
Police say they are not asking residents to refrain from sharing their experience on social media, as it can be a positive and quick way to warn nearby residents about suspicious activity.
Rather, they are asking that police be promptly contacted and advised about the suspicious activity so that they have the opportunity to investigate, prosecute and/ or prevent offences from being committed.
