Police Operation Mackay
Police have pulled off a major operation this week.
On Tuesday, June 11 between 4pm and 11pm, officers from Mackay, Mackay Northern Beaches, Marian and Farleigh worked with officers from the Road Policing Unit, Tactical Crime Squad, Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection Investigation Unit for Operation Mackay Miller.
This operation focused on locations in West Mackay, Mackay City, East Mackay and Andergrove.
Officers performed static roadside breath and drug testing along with mobile patrols.
Search warrants were also executed and increased efforts were made to finalise investigations into specific reported crimes.
We can advise residents of the following results:
745 roadside breath tests were performed with two drink drivers caught
12 on the spot fines were issued for a variety of traffic offences
Two drivers were caught for unlicensed or disqualified driving
Four search warrants were executed where eight people were charged with a total of 27 drug related offences including unlawful possession, possessing a drug utensil and supplying a dangerous drug
One person was charged with two criminal offences (stealing/wilful and unlawful damage)
Operations which target a wide variety of issues including road safety, drug and criminal offences are a great tool and one which residents may expect to continue to see in our district in the future.
