A truck has been stolen from inside a fenced construction site in Moranbah.

The thief damaged the fence to get into the compound on Ellensfield Road between 5:00PM on Tuesday and 5.30AM on Wednesday.

Once inside the compound, they approached a demountable building and forced the locked door open with an implement.

Once inside, they stole a large variety of tools including a generator and an auger, hand held radios, chargers and keys.

Two further demountable buildings were entered and searched.

One set of keys was used in an attempt to start a backhoe unsuccessfully.

A second set of keys were then used to start and steal a white 2009 model Fuso canter truck with registration number 705 LPI.

The truck has large yellow and black coloured lettering on the side that reads MCC61.
