Residents Woken By Noisy Car Theft, South Mackay
South Mackay residents have been woken by a noisy car theft on Wednesday morning.
At about 1.40AM on Wednesday, the McKenney Street locals heard their green 2010 model Mazda 2 hatchback, registration number 604 RQW, being stolen.
The thief reportedly entered the home through the front door, which was unlocked and stole car keys and a laptop from the lounge room.
The laptop is described as a Lenova Yoga model.
Anyone who has seen the stolen vehicle or has information about the offence is urged to contact police immediately.
Three further stolen cars have been reported to police on Wednesday:
- A silver coloured 2014 model Holden Calais sedan, Victorian registration number 1EC6LD. Stolen between December 19 and January 13 while owner was on holidays. Taken from an address on Wandoo Court in Beaconsfield.
- A white and grey coloured 2006 model Holden Crewman dual cab, registration number 253 LHU. Stolen between 6.30pm on January 13 and 5am this morning from a home on Hucker Street in South Mackay.
- A black coloured 2013 model Nissan Navara dualcab, registration number 640 ZAT. Taken between 10pm on January 11 and 7am this morning from a business address on Deloraine Close in Cannonvale.
Police are encouraging all vehicle owners to resist the temptation to leave car keys inside of your vehicle when it is unattended, even if only for a short period of time.
