Police Stumble Upon Alleged Burglar, Mackay

Police have charged a man they struck up a conversation with in South Mackay.  

At about 11.30pm on Thursday, Police were travelling on James Street when they began talking with a 33-year-old Mackay man.

During the course of the conversation, it is alleged that Officers detained the man and searched a backpack that he was carrying.

Police reportedly found a multi-grip tool and a variety of pliers and screwdrivers.

Police also allege they found a quantity of keys stored in a pencil case and collectors edition coins.

The man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering (linked to a reported matter in North Mackay from February 9) and a further charge of possessing implements of house breaking.

He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Friday to have the matter heard.
