North Queensland pubs swing open their doors

We can now grab a parmy and pint at the pub, with some local venues reopening from today.

Australian Venue Co. (AVC) establishments opened their doors on Monday 25th May, for the first time in nine weeks, allowing hundreds of staff members to return to work.

Eleven locations re-opened  in North and Far North Qld including The Metropolitan Hotel (Mackay), Tom’s Tavern (Townsville), Dunwoody’s (Cairns) and Palm Cove Tavern (Palm Cove).

State Manager Scott Brydson said there would be an increased focus on safety for customers and the teams with new safe socialising standards, including spaced tables and reduced capacity, in line with advice from the Queensland Government.

“While the team will still welcome guests with a warm smile and friendly hello, we’ve created some new ‘contactless’ measures that help us to comply with Government restrictions and guarantee our customers a safe and enjoyable experience at our venues," he said.

AVC hotel and motel venues Reef Getaway, Hotel Allen, The Metropolitan and Boomerang Hotel will also once again be offering accommodation for visitors.
