High speed incident, Middlemount

A 35-year-old Dysart man was stopped by police for an alleged speeding incident on the Fitzroy Developmental Road, May Downs (Middlemount) at 4pm on July 5.

Officers who were performing speed enforcement patrols stopped the Ford Falcon sedan for being driven at an alleged speed of 173km/h in a 100km/h speed zone – 73km/h above the posted speed limit.

The driver was issued with an on the spot fine of $1,245, lost eight demerit points and his drivers licence will be suspended for six months.

The vehicle was not impounded by police in this instance.
