Appeal for witnesses to traffic crash, West Mackay

At about 4.30pm on July 3, a three vehicle traffic crash occurred on Nebo Road at the intersection of Shakespeare Street, West Mackay.

Two vehicles were stationary at a red turning arrow traffic light – they were waiting to turn right onto Shakespeare Street.

As they were both waiting for the lights to change, it is alleged that a third vehicle braked heavily before striking the rear end of the second stationary car, causing it to strike the vehicle in front of it.

Police were able to speak with the occupants of both stationary cars waiting at the traffic lights that were damaged.

Officers are hoping to identify the driver of the Landcruiser as they left the scene before police arrived.

The vehicle that allegedly caused the traffic crash was a khaki coloured Landcruiser with a tray that had a dog cage fitted at the front.

The driver of this vehicle is described as being Caucasian in appearance, has a thin build and tattoos visible on their fingers.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have relevant dash-cam footage is encouraged to contact Mackay Police Station on (07) 4968 3444.
