Massive drug bust uncovers weed and cocaine in Whitsundays
A massive drug haul has taken huge amounts of ice, cannabis and cocaine off the streets in the Whitsundays.
While searching five different homes yesterday, local police say they uncovered $43,000 in cash, 22kilograms of cannabis, 41 grams of methamphetamine, and 89 grams of cocaine.
Subsequently, police have charged a 22-year-old Airlie Beach man with nine different offences, accusing him of supplying and trafficking dangerous drugs.
The man is also charged with illegally possessing a taser.
Detective Inspector Tom Armitt says Whitsundays police will continue to target drug offenders in the community.
“We rely on the public to assist us and strongly encourage members of the community to report any information relating to crime in our community,” Detective Inspector Armitt says.
The man is due to appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court today.
