Vehicle washed away in flood water north of Mackay

Two people have been taken to hospital, after a vehicle was swept away in flood water north of Mackay.

The pair appeared to have exited the vehicle before Queensland Fire and Rescue Service arrived, according to a QFES spokesperson.

Queensland Ambulance report one person was transported without injury for observation, the other with a laceration to the head.

Both were in stable conditions.


A vehicle is believed to have been swept away in flood water north of Mackay this morning.

Emergency crews were called to Surprise Creek in Mount Ossa around 5am Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Queensland Police Service says authorities are searching for a vehicle which may have been washed away.

Paramedics are assessing two patients at the scene, one is uninjured while the other sustained head lacerations.

Multiple crews from Queensland Fire and Emergency Service are also attending.

Police could not confirm reports that one person is missing.
