A crocodile has reportedly been spotted at the Port of Mackay.

The reptile was seen by contractors working on the Wharf 5 deck replacement this morning, according to North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation.

"They estimated it was about 2.5 metres, so a reminder to everyone to stay vigilant near the water," a post to the organisations Facebook says.

There have been three reported crocodile sightings in the Mackay region so far this month, according to data from the Department of Environment and Science.

We've contacted the DES for comment.
