Investigations are continuing into the alleged sexual assault of an Adelaide woman by a masked attacker.

About 7am on Friday, the woman was walking in wetlands at Munno Para, north of Adelaide, when she was hit in the head with an unknown object and sexually assaulted.

The suspect, a man wearing a black mask across the lower half of his face, then ran from the area.

He is described as about 170cm tall, tanned with a medium build, and was also wearing a hooded jumper and dark-coloured pants. He spoke in a foreign language and also English with an accent.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.
