A man has been charged over a string of property crimes in Mackay.
The man is accused of entering a Shakespeare Street home just before 8pm on August 20, where he was disturbed by the occupant and fled.
It’s alleged he then went to a nearby home and stole a Ford Ranger, later crashing it into a ditch on the corner of Norris Street and James Street.
A short time later police received reports the man was allegedly in a residence at James Street where he was preventing the occupant from leaving the house.
The police dog unit located the man outside the property shortly before 9pm and took him into custody.
He was transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has been charged with two counts of entering a dwelling with intent and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, deprivation of liberty, and trespass.
