A woman has been charged with the murder of Mackay man Wayne Pedro Morseu.
The 46-year-old woman, known to Mr Morseu, was arrested on Friday and charged with one count each of murder and interference with a corpse.
It comes after the 71-year-old man was reported missing in November last year, sparking extensive searches and grave fears for his wellbeing.
Investigations led detectives to believe his disappearance was suspicious after he had not contacted or been seen by anyone in a number of weeks.
Following further investigations police believed Mr Morseu died at his Griffin Street address in September, 2025 and that his body remained in the unit for a period of time, before being moved.
Police have spoken to over 120 witnesses and seized more than 100 exhibits since the disappearance.
Mr Morseu’s body is yet to be located and police are appealing for information to help find it.
