Police have charged a 31-year-old woman following a series of armed robbery and dangerous driving incidents in the Bowen area on June 13.
Reports came in of a white MG observed driving dangerously along Don Street in Bowen around 2pm on earlier this month.
Police allege the white MG was driven to a Banks Drive address around 3.15pm where a woman threatened a man exiting his vehicle at gunpoint with what was later identified as a gel blaster.
Police say she demanded the victim’s car keys. The offender who was not known to the victim, has stolen the man’s keys and driven away in a grey Kia Sorento, abandoning the white MG at the address.
More than an hour later, the stolen grey Kia Sorento was involved in a traffic crash on the Bruce Highway near Guthalungra, north of Bowen.
The offender abandoned the vehicle on the side of the highway and was provided transport from a person not known to them to Merinda.
Around 5.15pm, the offender allegedly attempts to steal another vehicle at gunpoint at the rear of a Bruce Highway service station at Merinda.
Police arrived a short time later and a woman was taken into custody. A gel blaster was located on the driver’s seat of the victim’s vehicle.
A 31-year-old Chinchilla woman has since been charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted armed robbery, evading police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of stealing, and four counts of driving unlicensed.
She has been remanded in custody and will appear in Bowen Magistrates Court on August 25.
