The wait is almost over for Star Wars fans. Following the immense success of the Disney+ series, our favourite silver-clad bounty hunter and his pint-sized apprentice are officially making the leap to the cinema. Lucasfilm has just dropped the final trailer and poster for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the excitement is palpable.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the creative force who launched this duo into the cultural stratosphere—the film is set to open exclusively in cinemas on May 21, 2026.
A New Mission in a Fractured Galaxy
While the Empire may have technically fallen, peace is a fickle thing in the Outer Rim. Imperial warlords are still lurking in the shadows, and the fledgling New Republic is finding that protecting a galaxy is much harder than winning a rebellion.
To help maintain order, they have turned to the legendary Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal). But this time, the stakes are higher. Mando isn’t just hunting criminals for credits; he is fighting to prevent another all-out war. It feels like a classic tale of “the old protect the young and then the young protect the old”.
The Star-Studded Galactic Cast
Pedro Pascal returns to voice the titular Mandalorian, but you don’t pay for Pedro and not show his face, so expect plenty of that. He is joined by Hollywood heavyweights like Sci-fi royalty Sigourney Weaver who is seen in the trailer as a high-ranking official advising Djarin to “check your armour first” before heading into danger.
We also get a glimpse of the character that Jeremy Allen White will play adding more star power to an already impressive roster.
We also get a great look a Zeb from Rebels and Embo from Clone Wars which will be a brilliant inclusions to the story.
Why IMAX Matters
This isn’t just a television episode stretched thin. The Mandalorian and Grogu has been specifically filmed for IMAX®. The trailer teases breathtaking aerial dogfights, snowy mountain pursuits featuring AT-ATs, and vibrant cityscapes that demand the biggest screen possible.
From the adorable antics of the “bad baby” Grogu to the return of familiar faces like the Anzellans (creatures of Babu Frik’s species), the film looks to be a visual feast that honours the grit of the original trilogy while pushing the story forward.
I don’t know about you but May cannot come soon enough. This is the way.
