A small community is in shock after a heroic act took a disastrous turn.
A man removed a snake from the leg of another man at Koumala on Saturday night.
As he was taking the reptile away it then bit him.

Bystanders did their best to try revive the man while waiting for paramedics, but sadly he died at the scene.
The other man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
It’s understood the incident happened at the Koumala State School 100 year anniversary.
The species of snake hasn’t been confirmed.
