Detectives are appealing for public assistance, as investigations continue into the death of 31-year-old Payge Leembruggen in Mackay.
A member of the public found her body in the sand dunes near Mackay Harbour North Wall around 8am on Tuesday, September 15.
Detective Inspector Emma Novosel investigations into the circumstances and cause of Payge’s death are ongoing, with an autopsy scheduled.
She says in the meantime they will be following all lines of inquiry and treating the death as suspicious.
“We have commenced a search, with the assistance of the SES, and so we’re obviously going through that bushland area to try and find any items of interest that could assist us in determining what happened to Payge, and how she came to be in that location.”
Payge, who has a 5-year-old son, was last seen at a hair salon on Celeber Drive in Andergrove around 8:55am on Friday, September 11.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen Payge between that time and September 15, or who may have information that could assist the investigation.
Payge [pictured] is described as Caucasian, approximately 178cm, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white top, bright red trousers and a red bow in her hair.
Anyone with information that can assist with investigations is urged to contact police.
Detective Inspector Novosel says it wasn’t unusual for Payge to be away from home.
“Payge would often travel from her Mt Jukes address to the Mackay City and take up with associates.”
“We’re trying to fill a four day gap at this time, and that’s why we’re seeking information from members of the public.”
