Two women have been hospitalised after a bedroom at a Walkerston home went up in flames.
Emergency services were called to the address at 10.33am yesterday on Dutton Street, after reports of smoke coming from a house.
The four occupants had already fled the building when fire crews and paramedics arrived.
A woman in her 70s and a woman in her late teens were both transported to Mackay Hospital in stable conditions, with no obvious injuries.
Two other patients were also assessed for smoke inhalation but declined further treatment.
Three fire crews were on scene and managed to put the fire out by around 10.55am.
A QFES spokesperson says the blaze was contained to one room, which suffered some structural damage.
Police were also called to respond to the incident.
