It’s the first day of summer, but doesn’t feel it in much of Queensland today.

Mackay is expecting a maximum temperature of 29 degrees, while Dysart’s only set to reach 24 degrees today, as a low pressure systems moves across the state.

It’s also brining plenty of rain to the region.

Gabriel Branesco from the Bureau of Meteorology says parts of the region recorded upwards of 50mm overnight, but the falls have been patchy.

“Mackay just 8mm on Paget alert, but further inland around the Pioneer River about 52mm on Ridgeland alert.”

The Senior Forecaster says the wet and cool weather will continue over the coming days.

“This low continued to develop last night, and will continue to do so today, as it moves southeast offshore today and Friday…causing quite a bit of rainfall along the Queensland Coast.

“Maximum temperatures will be well below average.”
