A 46 year old, from Yeppoon, has been arrested and charged following an alleged incident on Sydney Street.
Around 5:45 Tuesday morning it’s alleged the man was in possession of a machete and swung it at a mobile street sweeper that was passing by.
It made contact with the sweeper causing damage.
The driver reported the matter to police.
Police found the man a short time later on Victoria Street and say he was still in possession of the machete.
He has been charged with wilful and unlawful damage as well as possession of a knife in a public place.
He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on September 12 to have the matters heard.
